Understanding More About HubSpot

HubSpot is a publically listed NASDAQ traded company

Valued at over $5 Billion USD

It's effectively a massive cloud-based software program.

The cool thing about HubSpot is it automates your marketing. It means it does a whole bunch of chores that you would otherwise have to do by yourself.

The automated sales and marketing category has been around about, probably, ten years now. It's a reasonably new type of software.

It includes platforms like HubSpot, Marketo, Infusionsoft, and Pardot, to name a few of HubSpot's competitors.

Many people have heard and subscribe to the HubSpot Marketing Blogs. 22 million people last year read the HubSpot blogs. They do a fantastic job of publishing content. The big question is, "What does HubSpot do?"

What doesn't it do

There's a couple of ways to explain HubSpot, and what automated software does. Let's use the history of the banking industry to consider.

If you can think back to the old days, the '60s and '70s when the banks had ledger books and a bunch of pencils, erasers, and mainly men in suits sitting there updating ledgers by hand.

Then of course, in the finance world, spreadsheets came along, and now programs like MYOB and Xero automate the whole accounting experience.

In the old days, you did marketing by hand, and now HubSpot's come along and created a platform that incorporates a lot of the programs that people would jury-rig together to get a result.

Many customers have something like WordPress coupled together with MailChimp, then add Hootsuite together with that.

Effectively, HubSpot's a collection of about 15 different programs much like WordPress, Hootsuite, and MailChimp, all working together as one.

There are a bunch of tools in there. You're talking about the social media tool, the keyword tool. You've got landing pages, Call-To-Actions and forms.

The HubSpot CMS

HubSpot has a website Content Management System as well as the ability to send emails and blog. It's easier to make sales as there is a free CRM built into the platform.

HubSpot can contain significant amounts of information in one program. But where it comes into its own is perhaps best described by the experience of doing a webinar.

Producing a Webinar in HubSpot

Webinars are a great way to engage your prospects and show off some cool features that you might be selling. If you're talking about trying to market a webinar, that's when it gets a bit tricky. How would you do it if you didn't have HubSpot?

First of all, you've got to try and create a landing page to register the webinar people. Then, you've got to try and take the results of that landing page and send an email.

You've got to send follow-up emails. You've got to try and integrate with webinar software like GoToMeeting, and make that happen. It gets tricky with the need to work out who's coming and send emails out to confirm and invite.

Marketing Automation Makes Your Job Easier

By hand, this all gets difficult, to the point where it becomes a barrier to doing it at all. With HubSpot, what you're able to do is effectively build an entire campaign for a webinar, that's completely tracked in about 40 minutes.

In HubSpot, you can set up the landing page. You can set up the form. You can harvest the data from the form. You can send attendees to a thank-you page, then can send a thank-you email.

In addition to that, you've got a workflow that automatically sends future emails. All this is done with ease and full tracking in HubSpot.

HubSpot has a robust ecosystem, so you can record the registration details using GoToMeeting when integrated with HubSpot. The barrier to doing something like webinars is completely removed.

HubSpot lets you bring marketing ideas to life. Being one automated program, creating something like a webinar is not at all hard.

So how does someone make HubSpot work for them in an organisation?

There is the challenge that one has to get it working. Much like the accounting systems, if you're going implement SAP or NetSuite, for example, you need to have somebody who's going to assist you with that process, usually an accounting firm or an IT company.
